Centre for Digital Humanities

Within the humanities, increasing use is being made of digitised data and tools to process and analyse this data. To support research and education in this field, a Centre for Digital Humanities (CDH) has been set up at Utrecht University’s Faculty of Humanities, strengthening and combining existing activities.

Teams

In Utrecht, the Centre for Digital Humanities consists of:

Research Software Lab ILS Labs Data School Humanities IT
The Research Software Lab develops applications in areas such as text and data mining, linguistics, philosophy, language and literature studies and history. The labs at the Institute for Language Sciences provide experimental facilities to support linguistic research with subjects, such as a phonetics lab, baby lab, eye-tracking lab and EEG/ERP facilities. Research activities at the Data School include data ethics and public debates on social media. The infrastructure enabling all these activities is built and managed by the Humanities IT.
